Welcome to the 2021-2022
Rotary Year!
This is our Club's 25th Anniversary Year!
The Rotary Club of Dixie Sunrise was chartered on September 5, 1996
President, Charlotte Shelley
and members of our Club
welcome you to share in the work of this great group!
This week, June 9, 2022:
President Charlotte conducting
Derrick Loyola will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance
Richard Schwartz will lead us in the 4 Way Test
President Charlotte will lead us in a blessing.
Our program this week:

Where Were They - Tion Wayne | Shazam
Did anyone happen to notice that several members of this Club were missing for 3 weeks?
Where were they?
Come and find out!
Here is a small clue.....
Thursday, June 16th:
The Passing of the Gavel!
This year we will be socializing and dining at
Social Hour at 5:30, dinner to follow.
Come join in the celebration to tell Charlotte how much we appreciate her and to welcome Dave to the podium!
June 23rd:
We will be hearing from our friends at BACA!  It has been a few years since they visited us and it will be great to get their update.  If you are not aware of their work, it will blow you away!
Rotary District 5420 Southern Utah Assembly will be held on July 30th.  If anyone has not yet met Jose, this will be a great opportunity to connect with him.

Highway Clean-up on June 25th.  We will meet at 7:30 at Tonaquint Park and conclude our morning with breakfast at DeDe's.  Please see invitation from Richard for details.
Please refer to e-mail invitations from Pam Harrison for the Food Bank schedule this month.
Come lend a hand if you can!

As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.

We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.

They meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 6 pm at the Elks Lodge.

Thanks Veterans Club for your service!

Greetings Polio Warriors:

• WILD POLIO VIRUS, TYPE 1 (WPV1) - On the heels of the last reported case of Wild Polio in Pakistan on May 2nd, I’m saddened to inform you that Pakistan has reported another three cases of wild polio, the latest case occurring on May 11th. All three cases were reported in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan, bringing Pakistan’s total to 6 for the year.

TWENTY-ONE - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Pakistan (May 11th).

SIXTY-EIGHT - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Mozambique (March 25th).
ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Afghanistan (January 14th).

ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY-FOUR (1⁄2 YEAR +) - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Malawi (November 19th, 2021).

EIGHT - The total number of cases of WPV1 that has occurred in 2022 year-to- date (One in Afghanistan, Six in Pakistan and One in Mozambique).

SIX - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2021 (1 in Pakistan, 1 in Malawi and 4 in Afghanistan).
ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2020.

ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIX - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2019.

There was also one new Wild Positive Environmental Samples (ES) reported this last week in the same area as the above WPV1 cases, with collection taking place on May 15th. So the total count of wild ES for 2022 is now THREE, Two from Pakistan and One from Afghanistan collected on May 4th.
